I have been a professional helper since 2006. This journey has afforded me the opportunity to experience some amazing and magical moments. I have witnessed clients celebrate life changing success and watched more than a few succumb to their demons and pain. The years in this field have changed me and my beliefs in how to help a person improve what I now refer to as mental wellness. I am licensed as a psychotherapist. I have also held the titles of clinical interventionist, clinical case manager and consultant. My career has focused on helping those handcuffed by substance use disorders and complex trauma. I enjoy working with males and helping them navigate issues that impact being a modern man.

I have been fortunate and my career has taken me all over the United States. As a psychotherapist and interventionist I have worked with individuals, families, and treatment programs throughout the country. For a few years I relocated to southeastern Florida to pursue my passion for experiential therapy. In 2007 I developed a therapeutic approach that utilized scuba diving as an intervention. In 2013 I was able to expand on that approach and started a practice in the Delray Beach area helping clients access long term, sustained recovery. In 2017 I made the decision to focus my attention back to Michigan and my hometown of Grosse Pointe. My current practice builds on my work with recovery oriented therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement, Desensitization, Reprocessing Therapy), and nature-based practices. I maintain an office in Harper Woods, but I am just as likely to be found working with clients floating on paddle boards in Lake St. Clair or hiking on Belle Isle.

I received my undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1996 and completed my master’s degree in Counseling with a specialty in Addiction Treatment from the University of Detroit, Mercy in 2006. I am licensed as a Professional Counselor in the state of Michigan (LPC). I have been practicing EMDR since 2011. I am certified as a scuba diving instructor with the National Association of Underwater Instructors.
